Mechanical Assembler Houston, TX 77092
Perform assembly and hydrostatic testing operations associated with the production of inflatable packers and downhole tools or other products offered to company's customers and other clients. This contract position for approximately 4-6 months is located in Northwest Houston, 1st Shift: 6:00 p.m.-2:30 p.m., paying $19-$21/hr, depending on experience.

Responsibilities :

  • Review blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
  • Hydro testing with knowledge of hydraulic systems, seals, and packing.
  • Electronic job data/labor recording.
  • Assembly and re-dressing of oilfield thread connections for both tubing and casing with applicable lubricants and torque requirements.
  • Confer with production personnel, engineers or others to resolve assembly issues.
  • Perform daily maintenance duties and/or notify supervisor of any equipment-related issues that may require attention.
  • Maintain clean and orderly work area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.


  • Requires one-year certificate from college or technical school or minimum of five years related experience and/or training.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write and/or complete routine reports.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to work under a minimum of supervision.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings as they pertain to machining of inflatable packers or related downhole tools.
  • Must be familiar with hydraulic analysis and have own tools adequate to perform the job
  • Employees are subject to being on call
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee frequently is required to use hands to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and talk or hear.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
