CNC Machinist -- Houston, TX 77092

Perform set up and operation of CNC machinery (lathe and/or mill) in order to prepare metallic and non-metallic parts required in the production of inflatable packers and downhole tools or other products offered to the company's customers and other clients. This temp to hire role is 2nd Shift with working hours of 2:30 PM - 11:00 PM, paying $18-$20 per hour

Responsibilities:

  • Review blueprints, drawings, specifications or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of part/product, sequence of operations and/or set up requirements.
  • Identify, produce and gauge a variety of straight and taper threads, including Acme and buttress (does not apply to mill positions).
  • Measure, mark and otherwise indicate the dimensions and reference points on the part or material to be used as guides for subsequent machining.
  • Select, align and secure the holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials on machines to include mills, lathes and grinders.
  • Calculate and set controls to regulate various machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow and depth and angle of cut.
  • Start and observe machine operation to detect any malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjust the machine controls or control media as necessary.
  • Verify conformance of finished part to ensure that it meets specifications.
  • Confer with production personnel, engineers or others to resolve machining or assembly issues.
  • Perform daily maintenance duties and/or notify supervisor of any equipment-related issues that may require attention.
  • Maintain clean and orderly work area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements:

  • Requires one-year certificate from college or technical school or minimum of five years related experience and/or training.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand.
  • The employee frequently is required to use hands to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
  • The employee is occasionally required to walk and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and talk or hear.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
