This is a temp-to-hire opportunity in the Huntsville area. This is a 3rd shift position with hours ranging from 10:00pm - 6:30am Monday through Friday.The ideal candidate MUST be able to train for 2-3 weeks. This opportunity pays $18/hour based on experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for conducting analytical tests on polymeric materials and catalysts, including all sample preparations when necessary to ensure all raw materials and products meet stated QC specifications
  • Conducts mechanical testing (UTM testing of polymers and composites},thermal characterization (TGA,DMA, DSC),sample preparation, and analytical data collection interpretation and method development
  • Responsible for conducting inspections on molded parts including visual inspections, customer inspection reports and composing the required electronic correspondence with our client
  • Operates, maintains, and calibrates/verifies laboratory instruments and equipment used to conduct testing in the Quality Control Laboratory
  • Performs monthly and quarterly control tests on equipment
  • Ensure external calibration services are conducted on schedule
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area, and perform general housekeeping duties in the laboratory.
  • Prepare chemical solutions and polymer samples as directed
  • Maintains detailed, traceable electronic and written documentation for all work/testing carried out
  • Assembles data, complies information as necessary to assist in trouble shooting manufacturing issues or documenting process changes
  • Perform all operations in accordance with health, safety, and environmental rules
  • Support and adhere to the Quality Management System processes
  • Maintain, modify, and write from scratch Standard Operating Procedures
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 1- 3 years of laboratory experience in a chemical or industrial plant is required
  • The ability to work rotating shifts or evenings, nights and weekend shifts is required
  • Operating knowledge of: GC, tensile and compression testing, heat deflection temperature, impact strength, Karl Fischer, viscosity, density and reactivity analysis
  • Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Some lifting, stooping, pushing, pulling, sitting, standing, and additional activities may be assigned to meet the business needs
  • Frequent use of tools, fixtures, and sensitive instrumentation
  • Must be able to manually to lift a 40-pound object (with some assistance)
  • Shift work, overtime, and weekends are required when necessary to meet customer demand
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • College chemistry coursework or degree is preferred
