Logistics/Transportation Analyst Houston, TX 77041

Logistics Analyst needed for 6 months plus at a large manufacturing corporation working in the manufacturing building in NW Houston area. This assignment will pay $24-$25/hour. Analyst is responsible for the implementing short and long term strategic direction for global logistics operations. This strategy will follow all Company and Corporate directives where practical with emphasis on the "prime" carrier program and freight consolidations to maximize profitability.

  • Direct the procurement of all product and goods transportation and related freight handling services for the Company worldwide.
  • Implement Company shipping, traffic, transportation, distribution, freight forwarder and brokerage services and policies.
  • Identify and implement standardized best practices across multiple international sites.
  • Maintain accurate records; monitor federal and state regulations that governor freight and transportation.
  • Identify and execute cost reduction initiatives through mode shift, consolidation, and optimization of shipments.
  • Develop inbound and outbound logistics contingency plans to address supply chain uncertainty.
  • Prepare all data to support all Logistics Company Financial Reviews.
  • Maintain data of freight payment data and shipment data through freight payment services and shipping document reports.
  • Manage freight forwarder and common carrier relationships.
  • Provide input to Sales and Marketing for preferred sales terms (INCOTERMS) and cost/pricing for logistics value add services.
  • Implement, manage and report out on global logistics metrics.
  • Manage maintenance for freight payment, claims management, proof of delivery to meet business unit requirements and daily inbound and outbound operational needs.
  • Any other assignment as needed to support business needs.


  • Bachelor s Degree in Logistics management or related field
  • 3 years or more experience managing a logistics team which includes the export function.
  • Knowledge of Logistics practices
  • Knowledgeable of transportation trends, pricing, and government regulations to protect company from violations.
  • Office environment and manufacturing environment.
  • Microsoft Office
  • Oracle experience a plus
