Quality control Inspector II-- Houston, TX 77092

To ensure accuracy and conformance to specifications of company's Packers and downhole products, and the components therein utilizing mechanical inspection and Continuous Improvement methods and techniques. This temp to hire position is located in Northwest Houston, 2nd Shift: 2:30 p.m.-11:00 p.m., paying $21-$26/hr, depending on experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Examine production documents to ensure that all assembly, inspecting, and testing steps were performed according to specifications.
  • Examine all finished parts and verify accuracy to specifications outlined on engineering drawings and/or other engineering documents
  • Perform material hardness testing
  • Cross-train peers when necessary.
  • Prepare required shipping documentation and certification papers for international shipments of packers, tools and parts.
  • Process documentation by filing in appropriate filing area.
  • Conducting in-line quality audits of the manufacturing process at different stages to achieve optimum quality within the limits of equipment capability.
  • Maintain working knowledge of QMS documentation requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements:

  • Associate s degree in a related field; or two to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A strong background in rubber, steel and thread manufacturing is required. Prior NC or CNC machining experience is a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required.
  • Ability to calculate proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to work under a minimum of supervision.
  • Knowledge of QMS requirements.
  • Highly skilled in problem solving.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings as they pertain to assembly of inflatable packers or related downhole tools.
  • Ability to pass a test designed to demonstrate finger, hand, wrist and arm dexterity in order to operate proper stamping identification equipment and electric buffing equipment.
  • Intermediate skills in MS Office products to include Word and Excel and MRP or related systems. Familiarity with computer networks and e-mail.
