(3) Quality Inspector-- Houston, TX 77015

3 Openings! This position is responsible for inspecting raw materials, processes, and products according to specifications and drawings, in order to ensure that only conforming products are produced and shipped to internal and external customers. This position is First Shift, Temp-to-Hire, paying $16.00 - $20.00/hr, depending on experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Reads and interprets technical specifications, customer requirements, engineering drawings, directives and work instructions as applicable.
  • Performs or Oversees First-Article (Hot & Cold) visual and dimensional inspection on of forgings / machined products to ensure compliance with requirements, using blueprints, drawings, specifications and prior knowledge to evaluate potential deficiencies present in systems, processes or materials.
  • Performs in-process and final inspections at various points during the manufacturing process to verify dimensions and prevent/reduce rework and scrap.
  • Makes accept and/or reject decisions on products.
  • Actively reports nonconforming product and create NCRs as applicable.
  • Suggests possible corrections to processes or equipment to prevent recurring problems.
  • Schedules, performs, and documents all inspection activities, and creates inspection reports.
  • Submits files, charts and status reports on receiving, in-process and final inspections as applicable.
  • Prepares customer required inspection documentation.
  • Maintains an adequate and appropriate inventory of inspection equipment and provides suitable storage and security.
  • Maintains good order and housekeeping in all areas relating to the quality inspection activities.
  • Adheres to company s policies and procedures. Complies with Quality Management System.
  • Supports and participates in the organization s continuous Improvement Program
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of Quality System processes and procedures.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 2+ years of quality inspection experience.
  • Experience in Dimensional and Visual Inspection
  • Experience with Magnetic Particle Examination
  • ASNT Level I training preferred.
  • Previous experience with forging/machining environment is preferred.
  • Basic computer skills: Microsoft Windows, Excel, Word and data entry.
  • Supervisor s experience preferred.
  • Standing, squatting, bending, sitting, and walking for 10 to 12 hours per day.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Exposure to Production / Forging environment on daily basis.
  • Able to work in extreme temperatures and different weather conditions
