Quality NDE Level II Inspector

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00
Shift: 6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
- Candidate shall be capable of performing visual inspection of welds on both semi-finished and finished assemblies as identified on engineering drawing and work order router instructions.
- Must have previous experience performing non-destructive examination (NDE) activities on diverse types of materials and finished welds prior to pressure testing. Current certification to ASNT Level II required.
- Should be familiar with pressure testing process; capable of reviewing completed
- pressure test charts against operational procedures to determine compliance. Able to review work orders and all related documentation for compliance to Manufacturing / Quality / Testing procedures prior to leaving Test and Assembly area.
- Generate reports for the above as required per applicable procedures. Must be an effective communicator when identifying problems and providing suggestions to correct.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform daily visual welding inspection operations on semi -finished and finished welds.
- Generate inspection / test reports / welding maps as required. Prefer candidate with good and effective communication skills to identify problems noted to welders as well as welding department supervisor.
- Perform NDE inspection activities on materials and finished assembly welds.
- Perform daily dimensional inspections on finished elastomer products, as needed.
- Verify calibration of equipment used in various welding and testing activities to
- ensure compliance to operational specifications.
- Review production work order documentation to ensure that all assembly, inspection, and testing activities are performed according to specification.
- Generate nonconformance's (NCR's) against parts / assemblies determined to be outside of tolerance / engineering specification.
- Maintain working knowledge of ISO 9001:2015, and QMS requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
TOOLS, EQUIPMENT AND MACHINES:
- Ability to work under a minimum of supervision.
- Ability to work shifts.
- Ability to work overtime.
- Knowledge of the properties, characteristics, and processing behavior of materials during heat treatment, machining, and testing.
- Knowledge of ISO and API compliance regulatory requirements.
- Highly skilled in problem solving.
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings as they pertain to assembly of inflatable packers or related downhole tools.
- Intermediate skills in MS Office products to include Word and Excel and MRP or related systems. Familiarity with computer networks and e-mail.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- High school Diploma or general education degree (GED)
- 7+ years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Candidates should be currently certified to, or have previous work experience that would qualify the candidate for certification to ASNT-TC-1A, Level II in LP, MT, UT, & VT
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Ability to produce routine reports and correspondence.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
- Must have basic mathematical skills required to perform basic dimensional inspection.
- Should be familiar with mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios.
REASONING ABILITY
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Ability to work under a minimum of supervision.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings related to individual parts and complete assemblies.
- Must be a committed self-starter with excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Good working knowledge of MS Office products, including Word and Excel.
- Able to learn and use an MRP and related database system rapidly.
- Willing to work weekends as required to complete projects with short lead schedules.
