Quality Control Calibration Technician-- Houston, TX 77092

To ensure accuracy, conformance, and repair of company and employee-owned instruments, gauges and testing devices and equipment. This opportunity is Temp-to-Hire, First Shift - 6:00a.m. - 2:30 p.m., paying $20.00 - $22.00/hr, depending on experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the calibration of instruments, gauges and testing devices for all Client International, Inc. and Client US facilities.
  • Perform maintenance, test, and repair on a variety of instruments, gauges and testing devices
  • Manage the service provider quotes and schedules for the calibration of instruments, gauges and testing devices
  • Maintain verification logs for signing in and out company gauges and the verification of tool accuracy.
  • Assist machinists and inspectors with gauge set-up and verification.
  • Maintain calibration software with updated and accurate information of tool certifications traceable to NIST.
  • Maintain hard copy files of Calibration certificates.
  • Represent the Quality Control Gauge Lab during Customer, ISO, and API audits of the client QMS.
  • Maintain the Quality Control Gauge Lab in an organized and professional manner.
  • Cross-train peers when necessary.
  • Maintain working knowledge of QMS documentation requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements:

  • Associate s degree in Calibration Technology; or two to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A strong background in thread manufacturing and ASTM is required.
  • Prior experience working for a calibration service provider is a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required.
  • Ability to calculate proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to work under a minimum of supervision. Knowledge of QMS requirements. Highly skilled in problem solving. Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and industry specifications.
  • Intermediate skills in MS Office products to include Word and Excel and MRP or related systems. Familiarity with computer networks and e-mail.
