The Buyer supports sales and operations by quoting and purchasing of raw materials, production and non-production materials, MRO parts and materials, and all other materials used in production and the maintenance of the facility. Role would work directly with suppliers to meet demand, pricing, specification, and delivery requirements. Position would also execute Purchase Orders and expedites delivery as needed to support requirements and demands.

This is a temp to hire opportunity in N. Houston (Hardy Toll Rd/59) paying up to $21 per hour.


  • Prepares requests for quotations and purchase orders
  • Evaluates vendor quotations and services to determine most desirable suppliers
  • Purchases and expedites materials, equipment, and supplies from approved suppliers
  • Uses ERP system to maintain proper reorder points and order standard inventory items
  • Reads and interprets bills of materials and engineering drawings in order to purchase components
  • Tracks orders and reports any expected delays to the affected departments, such as Sales, Planning, and Production
  • Coordinate with warehouse to resolve receiving discrepancies, and work with vendor as needed to clean it up
  • Develops and maintains firm relationships with suppliers
  • Negotiates contracts and price lists with suppliers
  • Develops and presents ideas to continuously improve purchasing procedures and flows
  • Maintains the Approval Vendor List (AVL) and other purchasing files
  • Selects and evaluates new and existing suppliers per company procedures
  • Preforms quarterly evaluations of approved suppliers per company procedures


  • Minimum 3 years of experience, with progressively responsibility, in Supply Chain Management, Purchasing or Buying preferred
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems required, Global Shop Solutions experience a strong plus
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Purchasing, or related field preferred (some experience may be substituted for education)
  • Inventory control and management background a plus
  • Familiar with supply chain management concepts, practices, and procedures
  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good knowledge using MS Office applications, good analytical skills using Excel a big plus
  • A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected
  • Oil & Gas experience preferred
