CNC Burn Table Operator/Programmer needed for a company that through its substantial fleet of land-based drilling rigs, provides comprehensive drilling solutions to major and independent oil and gas companies.

This opportunity is a DIRECT HIRE role, paying $20-$25/hr, depending on experience. MUST be bilingual in English and Spanish.

The Burn Table Operator will be in charge of the CNC Burn Table and all duties within the Houston Fabrication shop that are plate burning related. Responsibilities include programming, nesting, loading, unloading, operating and reporting results to the Supervisor. The burn table will be providing a service for the manufacturing, maintenance, and repair work on oilfield drilling equipment in a shop environment. This position will provide on-site support with manufacturing activities as determined by the Fabrication Manager and the Fabrication Shop Supervisor.


  • Ensuring all machine/tools used in the assigned area are properly certified and calibrated as required and up to the task, preform daily cleanup of equipment
  • Ensure safe and cleanly appearance of fabrication shop in the assigned section
  • Meet and exceed company metrics including Safety, Quality, Cost, and Delivery
  • Read and interpret drawings allowing manufacturing to build to the design intent. Read and interpret Shop Work Orders
  • Draw and program parts in nesting software with precision
  • Provide expected delivery times to the Manager or Supervisor on all items being cut and prepared for the fabrication shop
  • Ensure all Burn Table helpers and any personnel are performing all actions in accordance with Company standards to include safety, conduct, and proper use of company resources
  • Identify training needs required in the Burn Table operations
  • Choose and process materials with precision and identify raw materials as required by Work Order
  • Label materials with Heat Numbers and Part Numbers following company procedures
  • Remove all sharp edges and burrs
  • Properly and safely load and unload materials/parts using hoist, forklift, and manually
  • Transfer all finished parts to appropriate departments
  • Properly store all raw materials in the designated areas
  • All other duties as assigned


  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • 5+ years relevant work experience, operating CNC Burn Tables
  • 1+ years of experience in using a Cad/Cam software
  • Must have experience with Cad/Cam software, Sigma Nest, Pro Nest or similar
  • Technical training or advanced education in a relevant vocational field
  • Bilingual: English and Spanish
  • Knowledge and experience in operating a CNC Oxy-Fuel and Plasma machine for burning plate. Must understand how to read and follow fabrication drawings
  • Strong computer skills within MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work on a task both alone and with workers as needed to assist in daily activities and delivery requirements
  • Knowledge and familiarity with industry and quality standards (ISO, API, OSHA, AWS)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to interact productively with co-workers and third parties
  • Ability to trouble shoot and solve problems relating to the plate burning machine and process
  • Understanding the fundamentals of Oxy-Fuel and Plasma cutting
  • Ability to operate forklift after certification
  • Lift and carry 50 pounds independently while walking on uneven surfaces
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, twist, and occasionally crawl during manufacturing in the shop and operational work areas
  • Ability to operate hand tools such as grinders, hammers and more
  • Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all designated times
  • Must be willing to work extended schedules that will include working days; and occasionally nights, weekends and holidays and be on call after hours as needed
  • Must be able to occasionally operate Band Saw and Drill Press as a backup general operator
