Shop Foreman needed for a company that through its substantial fleet of land-based drilling rigs, provides comprehensive drilling solutions to major and independent oil and gas companies.

The Shop Foreman supervises and coordinates the activities of small groups of Helpers, Fitters & Welders within the Houston Fabrication shop. Responsibilities include instructing skilled and semi-skilled employees in performing their assigned work performing various manufacturing, maintenance, and repair work on oilfield drilling equipment in a shop environment; monitoring completion of work; ensuring that necessary equipment and personnel are assigned to the job and monitoring high-risk activities to ensure safe practices are followed.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage small and large fabricated projects per scope of work provided
  • Ensuring all machine/tools used in the assigned area are properly certified and calibrated as required and up to the task
  • Ensure safe and cleanly appearance of fabrication shop in the assigned section
  • Meet and exceed company metrics including Safety, Quality, Cost, and Delivery
  • Read and interpret drawings allowing manufacturing to build to the design intent
  • Provide expected delivery times to the Manager or Supervisor on all items being fabricated and repaired that the fabrication shop is managing
  • Ensure fabrication personnel are performing all actions in accordance with Company standards
  • Identify training needs required in the shop operations

  • Knowledge and experience fabricating multiple types of structures, tanks, and other oilfield equipment
  • Ability to work on a task both alone and with workers as needed to assist in daily activities and delivery requirements
  • Knowledge and familiarity with industry and quality standards (ISO, API, OSHA, AWS)
  • Knowledge and ability to understand of Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) per specific job
  • Effectively lead, manage, and develop fabricators and other staff to drive individual performance goals and ensure overall performance aligns with Company standards
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to interact productively with co-workers and third parties
  • Ability to lead by example and be a good mentor to junior employees
  • Ability to create a safe environment and respond to emergency situations

  • Lift and carry 50 pounds independently while walking on uneven surfaces
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, twist, and occasionally crawl during manufacturing in the shop and operational work areas
  • Stay alert and remain focused even during occasional extended work periods
  • Demonstrate clear communication skills and ability to give, and follow directions promptly
  • Must be willing to work extended schedules that will include working days; and occasionally nights, weekends and holidays and be on call after hours as needed

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • 5+ years relevant work experience, fabrication of heavy steel items
  • 1+ years of experience is a supervisory or leadership position
  • Must have and maintain a valid state-issued driver s license and be eligible to drive
  • Company vehicle including the ability to meet requirements of Company s Vehicle Use. Agreement and Driving Policy
  • Must know welding codes, example AWS and ASME
  • Must understand how to read and follow Welding Procedures
  • Bilingual- English and Spanish
  • Strong computer skills within MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to conduct and lead Daily Pre-Tour Meetings in English & Spanish
  • Technical training or advanced education in a relevant vocational field
  • Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all designated times
