Material Handler/Receiving Clerk  Pasadena, TX 77502

 Will be responsible for moving freight, stock, or other materials or perform other general labor. This is a temp to hire opportunity paying $14-$15/hr depending on experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Move freight, stock, or other materials to and from storage or production areas, loading docks, delivery vehicles, ships, or containers, by hand or using trucks, tractors, or other equipment.
  • Sort cargo before loading and unloading.
  • Attach identifying tags to containers or mark them with identifying information.
  • Conduct Cycle Counts
  • Read work orders or receive oral instructions to determine work assignments or material or equipment needs.
  • Stack cargo in locations such as transit sheds or in holds of ships as directed, using pallets or cargo boards.
  • Record numbers of units handled or moved, using daily production sheets or work tickets.
  • Install protective devices, such as bracing, padding, or strapping, to prevent shifting or damage to items being transported.
  • Direct spouts and position receptacles, such as bins, carts, or containers so they can be loaded.
  • Attach slings, hooks, or other devices to lift cargo and guide loads.
  • Maintain equipment storage areas to ensure that inventory is protected.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have experience driving a forklift
  • Six months minimum experience in material management (i.e. inventory, stocking, purchasing) in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability to perform primary responsibilities satisfactorily.
  • Must possess mechanical aptitude with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment and manage multiple priorities and tasks.
  • Proven track record of excellence in customer service.
  • Extremely well organized and detail-oriented.
  • Computer skills: Microsoft Office, MRP and/or inventory software preferred
  • Must have excellent communication skills and be able to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Must be able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Physical Demands while performing the duties of the job, employee is required to stand; walk; sit for long periods; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Employee must frequently lift and /or move up to 10 lbs but may occasionally lift up to 20 lbs.
