Production Assistant-- Houston, TX 77020

Provides support to operations for a machine shop. Responsibilities will include reviewing incoming purchase orders, producing routings, creating work orders, submitting requisitions for material, outside processing and/or services, and other activities to ensure job packets are available to operations in a timely manner. Production Coordinator needed for East Houston area (77020) for Temp to Possible Perm. This is paying $35,000 a year.

  • Works according to assigned hours and schedules as established by the Supervisor/Site Management.
  • Must adhere to all established working rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Must be able to understand and communicate (written and verbal) in English.
  • Review and verify incoming purchase orders to quotes
  • Produce routings in Oracle for new/repeat part numbers
  • Create work orders in Oracle jobs
  • Compile job packets to submit to quality for review of routings/specifications
  • Create and submit requisitions for material, outside processing, etc.
  • Upon receipt of approval, release the order to the floor
  • Provide updates to other employees of the company regarding order status
  • Maintain job folder and packet throughout the running job
  • Manage the company truck schedule for movement of products within and outside of the company
  • Perform related job duties as required
  • Work in a shop floor environment, wearing appropriate attire and PPE including closed toe shops and work boots when out in the shop
  • Expected to submit recommendations for improving the current policies and procedures as they are identified and promote a positive work environment.
  • The role is essential for processing, developing and completing customer orders in a timely, accurate, and safe manner. Any and all issues must be directly communicated to the appropriate supervisors, leads, and site management, in order to be addressed correctly.
  • The production coordinator works on several jobs at once. They frequently use filing and computer systems to keep everything organized.


  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Excellent computer skills: MS Office, particularly Word and Excel
  • Understanding of drawings, dimensions & tolerances, and specifications
  • Strong problem solving, organizational, and critical thinking skills
  • Team Player with an excellent attitude
  • Able to work and learn in a fast paced environment, multi-task, and shift priorities, as needed
  • Close attention to detail is essential.
