Accounting Specialist/Human Resources - Houston, TX 77041
Temp to Hire
Salary: $65K–$75K annually

We are building up the team locally and need candidates who are hands-on, adaptable, and comfortable setting up processes from the ground up.
Accounting Specialist (75%)
Accounts Payable (AP)
- Process vendor invoices, verify accuracy, and ensure proper approvals.
- Schedule and process payments, maintain vendor records.
Accounts Receivable (AR)
- Prepare and issue customer invoices.
- Record and reconcile payments, follow up on overdue accounts.
General Ledger & Reconciliation
- Post journal entries and maintain supporting documentation.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit card accounts, and balance sheet accounts.
Financial Reporting Support
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Prepare schedules, summaries, and reports as requested.
Compliance & Recordkeeping
- Ensure accounting procedures comply with company policies and GAAP.
- Maintain accurate financial and vendor/customer files.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Support payroll, budgeting, and financial audits as needed.
- Support administrative purchasing as needed.
- Provide accounting support to other departments.
HR Administration (25%)
Recruitment & Onboarding
- Coordinate job postings, screen resumes, and schedule interviews.
- Conduct new hire orientation and ensure smooth onboarding.
Employee Relations
- Serve as a point of contact for employee questions and concerns.
- Support conflict resolution and provide guidance on HR policies.
Benefits & Compensation
- Assist employees with benefits enrollment and inquiries.
- Work with payroll to ensure accurate compensation and deductions.
HR Administration
- Maintain employee records (HRIS, personnel files).
- Prepare HR reports, metrics, and compliance documentation.
Training & Development
- Support employee training programs and track participation.
- Identify skill gaps and recommend development opportunities.
Compliance
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws.
- Assist with audits and policy updates.
General Office Administration
- Handling day-to-day general office affairs.
- Maintain necessary communications with landlord, vendors and suppliers.
- Ensure a clean, safe and organized office environment.
Requirements:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 2–4 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience.
- Proficiency with accounting software a strong plus.
- Strong knowledge of Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Experience with ERP systems a strong plus.
- Knowledge of GAAP and general accounting principles required.
