Shift: Monday – Friday 2nd shift ONLY 3:30pm to 12:00am (subject to change)
JOB DESCRIPTION
SUMMARY
Assemble wooden crates or boxes and packs architectural items to include signage, fascia or canopies, fixtures or odd shaped products.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Other duties may be assigned.
- Determine optimum crating methods and materials by reading blueprints, shipping notices, and other specifications, and inspects product to determine size and shape of container, materials to be used, and types of supports and braces to be used.
- Design crate or box by laying out dimensions on materials with ruler, measuring tape, and pencil.
- Assemble skid, crate or box by assembling materials, cutting to size.
- Pack product by wrapping and placing product in container and building crate around the product.
- Wrap and tightens metal bands around crate.
- Attach identification labels or stencils containing such information as shipping destination, weight, and type of product contained on crate.
- Prepares for shipping by counting items to be packed to ensure compliance with shipping orders and moving container to shipping area.
- Weigh loaded crate for recordkeeping and compliance purposes.
- Sharpen saw blades as required to ensure proper machine operation
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); one to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to utilize measuring equipment (ruler and tape measure).
