Manufacturing (Automation) Engineer 2
We are currently seeking qualified candidates to fill the role of Manufacturing (Automation) Engineer 2 for our computer repair operations.
Experienced automation engineer able to take projects from conception to implementation. Will be part of the warehouse automation project. Skilled in PLC programming preferred.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Supports engineering team in the design, installation, and commissioning-related activities for medium-large warehouse automation capex projects ($1M+)
- Leads technical improvement initiatives; become technical subject matter expert in AS/RS, conveyance, and/or other warehouse material handling equipment
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand the warehouse automation requirements and contribute to the design of electrical systems.
- Program and configure PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) to control and monitor automated equipment and processes.
- Select and integrate sensors and actuators necessary for precise control and feedback within automated systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to sensor integration and functionality.
- Implement power distribution systems for automated equipment, ensuring safety and compliance with electrical codes.
- Collaborate with cross functional teams and contractors for installation and implementation of automation systems.
- Provide regular updates on project progress and participate in project meetings.
- Conduct thorough testing of automated systems to ensure functionality, reliability, and safety.
- Create comprehensive documentation for electrical designs, system configurations, and troubleshooting procedures.
- May lead cross-functional projects that result in measurable process improvement & cost reductions
- Develop & co-ordinates activities associated with 5S & Six Sigma methodologies to promote continuous process improvements
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor and manager
Skills, Education and Training:
- B.S. degree in one of the following or similar fields; electronics/electrical/computer/ Industrial engineering
- Experience in data mining/manipulating and developing reports and procedures
- 2-3 years of experience in electrical / automation engineering or related engineering role; PC Service Operation exposure preferred
- Familiar with HMIs, Allen Bradley or Siemens PLCs, Network Architecture Drawings
- Familiar with Process Simulations, Power BI or other visualization tools
- Experience with WCS/WES and Issue Resolution/debugging with vendor PLC coding
- Experience integrating robotic arms, AMRs, AGVs, or GTP Systems
- Experience in applying Lean 6 Sigma quality principles must
- Demonstrated Project management capability in small to medium projects
- Computer hardware experience in Laptops & peripheral components like motherboard/ LCDs (May or would distinguish the candidate)
- Process mapping skills using Microsoft Visio must
- Data analysis capability - statistical analysis of the data to make decisions, data mining/manipulating and analyzing to develop reports and procedures
- Strong proficiency in English
