Welder Helper
Shift: 8:00am – 5:00pm (With OT)
Pay: $15.00 - $16.00/hour
Set up and operate welding equipment necessary to produce all components assigned by Team Leader. Weld metal components together with brazing and variety of arc and gas welding equipment to fabricate or repair aluminum or steel welded structures.
- Lay out material to be worked, measured, cut and prepared by verifying against work order and drawings.
- Fit material to be worked by checking work order and drawings.
- Assemble sub-assemblies or components in preparation for next operation.
- Weld sub-assemblies, components, steel or aluminum for next operation or finished goods using stick, Metal Inert Gas (MIG), Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG).
- Perform non-destructive testing (NDT) using mag particle or dye penetrant methods.
- Perform related tasks such as drilling, thermal cutting and grinding.
- Repair broken or cracked parts, fills holes, and increases size of metal parts.
- Position and clamp together components of fabricated metal products preparatory to welding.
- Maintain welding equipment, fixtures and jigs.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or general education degree (GED). Eighteen months welding/fitting experience in manufacturing environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to read prep and weld symbols.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to read tapes; perform decimal to fractional conversion. Ability to stack dimensions to verify drawing accuracy.
