Position Overview:
This is a working lead role, responsible for performing cabinet assembly duties while providing day- to-day direction, support, and coordination for a team of assemblers. This role plays a critical part in ensuring production goals, quality standards, and safety expectations are consistently met. The ideal candidate is a strong hands-on performer who can lead by example, communicate effectively, and drive accountability within the team.
Essential Job Functions:
• Perform all Cabinet Assembler duties, including assembling wood and/or metal components into finished fixtures
• Read and interpret blueprints, job orders, and engineering specifications
• Use hand tools and power tools to fit, trim, and assemble components
• Install hardware such as drawers, hinges, brackets, and trim
• Inspect work to ensure adherence to quality standards and customer specifications
• Troubleshoot assembly issues and support problem resolution on the floor
• Perform basic preventative maintenance on tools and equipment
Team Leadership & Coordination
• Provide daily direction, monitor workflow, and work assignments to assembly team members
• Lead by example in safety, quality, attendance, and work ethic
• Monitor workflow and adjust assignments to meet production schedules
• Support onboarding and training of new employees
• Reinforce standard work practices and ensure consistency across the team
• Act as a first point of contact for team members regarding day-to-day questions and issues
• Communicate production updates, challenges, and needs to supervisors and management
• Assist in identifying opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains
Safety, Quality & Accountability
• Promote and enforce a safe work environment and adherence to all safety policies
• Ensure work areas are clean, organized, and free of hazards throughout the shift
• Monitor quality of work and address issues in real time to prevent rework
• Drive a sense of urgency and accountability to meet daily production targets
• Support waste reduction efforts and efficient use of materials
• Maintain high standards of attendance, professionalism, and teamwork
Qualifications:
Required:
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and job specifications
• Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic math (fractions, measurements)
• 3+ years of experience in cabinet assembly, woodworking, or manufacturing
• Demonstrated ability to read blueprints and use measuring tools accurately
• Strong working knowledge of hand tools, power tools, and assembly processes
• Ability to lead by example and influence others in a team environment
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment
Preferred:
• Prior experience in a lead, trainer, or informal leadership role
• Experience working with both wood and metal fixture assembly
• Familiarity with production scheduling or workflow coordination
• Continuous improvement mindset (lean manufacturing exposure is a plus)
Education and/or Experience:
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
