Diesel Technician
Pay Rate: $20-25 per hour
Temp-Perm
Responsibilities:
• Perform in-depth preventative maintenance inspection and service on all mechanical transportation equipment in accordance
with manufacturer specifications and company guidelines.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and maintain equipment to the desired company performance standards including but not
limited to electrical systems, drive train, air, and brake systems, suspension systems, and maintain tires.
• Interface, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electronic computerized power trains and vehicle components.
• Utilizing a continuous improvement mindset, assist in identifying opportunities to improve processes.
• Comply with all company work and safety rules and regulatory compliance rules and regulations.
• Use all personal protective equipment in compliance with OSHA regulations.
• Possess the necessary personal tools to perform duties. Be able to work on transportation equipment.
Qualifications and Experience:
• One year certificate from college or technical school; or five years related experience and/or training in general
transportation equipment maintenance and repair; or equivalent combination of continued education and experience.
• Knowledge and/or experience with transport refrigeration preferred.
• Ability to read, write, perform basic mathematical calculations, and accurately record data required.
• Must be willing to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and varying shifts, as required.
• Must be able to work independently and on a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong analytical skills and a systematic approach to troubleshooting and problem-solving is required.
• Minimum age: 18
• Must be able to pass a drug screen and physical.
Certificates/Licenses/Registrations:
• Must have or be able to obtain a Class A or B commercial driver’s license permit within 6 months of hire.
• Must have or be able to obtain all EPA licensing and/or certifications consistent with field requirements including but not
limited to EPA Clean Air Act Section 608 Type II and EPA Clean Air Act Section 609 MVAC certifications within 3
months.
• Must have or be able to obtain Brake Inspector Certification as defined in FMCSA Part 396.25 within 3 months.
• Must have or be able to obtain Annual Inspector Certification as defined in FMCSA Part 396.19 within 3 months.
Physical Demand/Working Conditions:
• Must be able to frequently lift and move 10 pounds and occasionally lift and move more than 100 pounds.
• Must be able to work in very hot (more than 100 degrees) and very cold (less than 20 degrees below zero) and in a very wet
and humid environment for extended periods. Exposed to noise/vibration, and chemicals.
• Required to Stand, walk, climb, bend, twist, push and pull, and reach above and below the shoulder.
• Repetition-Hand/Wrist Simple Grasping, Firm grasping.
