Shipping Technician
Pay: $21 - $23/hr
Temp to Hire
Shift: 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM. Mon- Fri. possibly Saturdays, depending on workload.
Job Functions:
- Prepare shipments by building, packing, and protecting products as needed
- Package outgoing products or freight by boxing, crating and/or palletizing products
- Determine and document method of shipment by examining items to be shipped, destination,
route, rate, and time of shipment with the review of sales order requirements - Process packages using scale and create labels for packages
- Print bills of lading and packing list for products
- Communicate often using a computer to external and internal customers by email with detailed accuracy
- Coordinate freight pick-ups using a computer
- Maintain shipping records
- Load and unload materials to and from designated storage area, such as racks, shelves, or vehicles using motorized equipment
- Enter information into logistics system and label all shipments
- Make recommendations of improvements for process effectiveness and efficiency
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks, as needed
- Demonstrate a personable, positive, and enthusiastic attitude
- Participate in Lean events with active involvement in CI initiatives (Production positions)
- Report unsafe acts or conditions to supervision immediately as noticed
Position Details:
- Candidate must reside in: Houston TX or surrounding areas
- Work week and shift: M-F possibly various start time schedules, often daily over-time, occasional
weekend work, Sundays may be required during special projects - Compensation package offered: Competitive hourly rate and quarterly bonus eligibility

- On the job training on processes, procedures, and product assembly
- Climate controlled warehouse, standing workstation, strenuous work often required
- Uniforms provided by company upon regular employment
- PPE requirements include safety glasses and steel toes
Minimum Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a complex, high-volume manufacturing shipping environment
- Some experience using shipping software
- Prior work experience shipping using FedEx and UPS software tools
- Prior work experience with building /preparing pallets/crates for shipments
- Must be able to read, write and speak English
- Understand and follow verbal and written instruction
- Must be detail oriented, and possess outstanding organizational skills
- Must be able to work in fast paced environment with changing priorities
- Must be able to meet deadlines
- Experience using forklift and pallet jacks
- MS Outlook experience
- Is open to change and new information
- Show respect, understanding, and concern for others
- Must have a professional and positive attitude as well as a passion for continuous improvement
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least 3 years prior work experience shipping using FedEx and UPS software tools
- At least 2 years prior work experience with building /preparing pallets/crates for shipments
- MS Office Suite
- Must be able to troubleshoot shipping issues
- Must possess an understanding of document control
- Oracle Experience
- Experience using a scale to weigh freight
