CNC Machinist Summary
We are seeking a CNC Machinist to join our production team. In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring CNC lathes to produce precision plastic parts that meet tight tolerances and high-quality standards. You will interpret blueprints, set machine parameters, load programs, and perform measurements to ensure parts meet specifications.
CNC Machinist Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor CNC lathes to machine precision parts according to work orders and blueprints
- Load raw materials, run production parts, and unload finished components
- Read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and setup sheets to determine part requirements
- Load CNC programs and set tools, offsets, speeds, and feeds as directed
- Select, measure, install, and secure tools and attachments with minimal supervision
- Independently verify dimensions using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision instruments
- Edit and adjust CNC programs or controls to correct minor errors or optimize performance
- Maintain machines, replace worn tools, and perform basic preventive maintenance
- Complete required production documentation and in-process inspection checks
- Maintain a clean, organized work area in compliance with safety and PPE requirements
- Communicate promptly with supervisors regarding machine or quality issues
- Assist with material handling, tooling changes, and other production support tasks as needed
CNC Machinist Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 5+ years of CNC lathe machining experience, preferably working with plastics
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, GD&T, and 3D CAD models
- Skilled in the use of calipers, micrometers, and precision gauges
- Experience with FANUC-controlled CNC machines and G-code programming
- Hands-on machining and setup experience, including prove-outs and troubleshooting
- Demonstrated ability to hold tight tolerances and meet SAE aerospace standards
- Experience machining materials such as PEEK and Teflon
- Additional machining experience with:
- Stainless steels (300 Series, Nitronic 60)
- PH stainless steels (15-5, 17-4)
- Aluminum bronze
- MP35N and Inconel
