Production Planner/Purchasing Agent
Pay: $19.00/hr. - $23.00/hr.
*Must have at least an Associate Degree. Must have knowledge of OD, ID and Length of Parts to make production work orders Alloy or Metal experience preferred*

The Production Planner provides the mechanics and coordination required to meet scheduled order promises, while complying with and executing company policies and procedures. Depending on site this role impacts customer deliveries, shop schedules, product costs, and efficiency.

  • Coordinate the supply of materials and subcontract operations to meet production schedules.
  • Initiate work orders with inventory to ensure efficient and low cost production, timely delivery, and maintenance of adequate inventory levels.
  • Analyze current inventory for excess and obsolete items and maintain proper inventory levels per policies and procedures.
  • Initiates continuous and effective communications with all levels of inside and outside of the organization on activities that may impact the Master Production Schedule working through the customer service representative where appropriate.
  • Monitor currently planned order execution via daily review of appropriate data printouts, and support established dates on all orders.
  • Maintain contact with and update customers through customer service representatives.
  • Review site capacity to assist with developing short and long term capacity plans, adjusting schedule delivery dates and relative priorities based on work orders.
  • Communicate discrepancies found on shipments received from vendors, follow up on causes and distribute the information.
  • Monitor and rate supplier performance, using the system to calculate on time delivery vs requested date, on time delivery vs. promised date and on time delivery vs. due date. Summarize and present the results.
  • Run reports and inform teams of outcomes. Follow up as needed to ensure understanding and continued improvement.
  • Process paperwork and maintain records as required.
  • Additional duties as assigned


  • Associate's degree, preferably in a technical field with two years shop floor planning experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Materials Management or technical field preferred
  • Must be able to read prints and tell the difference between an OD, ID and lengths of parts.
  • MRP II environment experience necessary.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills.
  • APICS certification is desirable
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Must be able to respond to visual and aural cues.
  • Approved PPE is required when on the factory floor
