Safety Coordinator (Bilingual - English/Spanish)

Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour, depending on experience
Summary:
The Safety Coordinator plays a key role in leading and implementing safety programs across all company facilities. This position ensures compliance with OSHA regulations, investigates incidents, and promotes a proactive safety culture. The ideal candidate is bilingual (English/Spanish), hands-on, and able to collaborate effectively across departments and all organizational levels to maintain a safe, compliant, and engaged workplace.
Responsibilities and Deliverables:
Incident Management & Reporting
- Lead investigations for workplace injuries, near misses, and safety violations
- Conduct root cause analyses and develop corrective and preventive action plans
- Maintain accurate OSHA logs and ensure timely reporting to regulatory agencies
- Serve as the point of contact during OSHA inspections and audits
Safety Programs & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with company safety policies and applicable regulations
- Regularly visit plant areas to verify that safety procedures and training are being applied on the job site
- Partner with department heads to identify risks, reinforce accountability, and monitor progress on corrective actions
- Maintain updated documentation for inspections, audits, and compliance metrics
Training, Onboarding & Orientation
- Develop, deliver, and update safety orientation programs for new hires
- Coordinate recurring safety trainings (lockout/tagout, PPE, forklift, ergonomics, etc.) and maintain attendance records
- Continuously evaluate training effectiveness and update content based on incidents
Collaboration & Communication
- Collaborate with supervisors, maintenance, and production leaders to ensure safety practices are integrated into daily operations
- Communicate clearly and respectfully at all levels—from floor employees to executive leadership
- Lead safety committee meetings and promote open discussions about unsafe conditions
Culture & Engagement
- Promote awareness and accountability for safety through visible leadership and ongoing communication
- Recognize employees who demonstrate exemplary safety behavior
- Support HR and Operations in initiatives to strengthen overall employee well-being
Knowledge and Skills Required
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or associate degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field preferred
- Experience: 3+ years in a safety coordination or similar role within manufacturing or industrial settings. Proven experience managing incident investigations, OSHA compliance, and safety training programs. Experience participating in or managing OSHA site visits is a strong plus
- Technology: Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience using safety management or incident tracking systems preferred
- Languages: Bilingual (English/Spanish) – required. Must be able to communicate effectively at all organizational level
- Physical Requirements: Frequent walking across production floors, standing for long periods, climbing stairs/ladders, and lifting up to 40 lbs
