Purchasing Manager
Purchasing Manager - Direct Hire opportunity in North Houston, for a dynamic oilfield manufacturing company!!

This position will report directly to General Manager and will lead team of 8 Buyers. Our client is looking for a talented manager and mentor with strong manufacturing, fabrication, steel production background, and ability to strive in fast pace environment!


Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for monitoring and implement improvement plans for cost (PPV), OTD, Quality and safety metrics as they relate to all purchased parts and service providers
  • Define and improve sourcing strategies and processes with respect to order specifications and budget constraints.
  • Search, survey and select new vendors of equipment, services and materials.
  • Prepare and follow-up on request for quotations, ensuring all necessary technical, quality, transport and commercial documentation are complete.
  • Obtain quotes, specifications and product availability from suppliers and negotiate price and terms & conditions of the purchase orders, standard equipment or services.
  • Follow up with import and export companies and suppliers to allow smooth logistics.
  • Prepare and issue purchase orders and order modifications, according to the applicable process, making sure all data is recorded properly in the ERP-System.
  • Follow-up on material deliveries and services, including transportation, to ensure delivery is made on time; Liaise with customs and suppliers in the preparation of necessary documentation for import/export of parts.
  • Ensure all work procedures are compliant with procedures and integrity policies.
  • Advise Functional managers regarding processes and procedures.
  • Review and improve processes toward continuous development of the Supply Chain function towards best practice, consistently strive to improve On Time Delivery and Quality statistics to target levels.
  • Ensure compliant and efficient processes are maintained while constantly driving process efficiency and simplification.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering or Supply Chain degree.
  • 5-7 years of experience in an oilfield industry manufacturing environment in the areas of sourcing, purchasing, or supply chain
  • 3-5 Years of experience in a fast growing business with low volume high mix
  • Proven knowledge of steel machining, fabrication, thermal processes and fabrication.
  • Global supply chain experience a plus
  • Demonstrated experience working in an ERP controlled environment like SAP, JDEdwards, AX, Epicor;
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, with specific focus in excel and power point
  • Demonstrated understanding of supply chain concepts (leadtime, safety stocks, stocking programs) and metrics (PPV, OTD, PPM, TRIR, Inventory Turns)
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills;
  • Team player with excellent communication and negotiation skills;
  • Ability to lead a small team;
  • Ability to effectively assess and prioritize tasks, risks and resources;
  • Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously;
  • Self-Starter, able to excel in fast paced business environment; Strong customer service and results oriented mind-set.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess, and improve current systems and processes in conjunction with any and all necessary personnel and groups.
