Quality Control Inspector 
Tempt to Hire
Pay: 23.00 - $25.00
Shift: Monday – Friday (Occasional Saturdays) 
 
 
 
Job Overview: The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for the following:  Inspect product and material, Raw or Finished Components, for defects or deviations from Suppliers, Manufacturers, and Vendors. Monitor the quality of the internally manufactured product based on Internal Specifications and the applicable Industry Standards. Recommend adjustments to the Assembly or Production processes. Inspect, test, and measure material or product being manufactured, and discuss inspection results with those responsible.
 
Responsibilities and Duties: 
 
  • Maintain Calibration of Production Tools, Quality Control Test Equipment, Pressure Gauges for Production, Thread Gauges, Plug Gauges, Ring Gauges, Height Gauges, Calipers, ID Mics, OD Mics, and all items that are used for measuring or testing.
  • Maintain Calibration Log to control intervals of calibration and maintain the equipment in Calibration.
  • RCA – Root Cause Analysis (Failure Analysis) Report development and assist Quality Engineer/Manager.
  • Create NCR’s, Non-Conformity Reports, for defective finished components and product failures. 
  • Advise Suppliers / Vendors of Non-Conforming material.
  • Communicate with Suppliers / Vendors to find solutions to NCR’s created for the material supplied by them. 
  • Create and maintain monthly KPI data for Internal and External NCR’s.
  • Occasional Job Site visits to perform Failure Analysis related duties.
  • Monitor Production Operations to ensure requirements of Internal and Industry Standards are met.
  • Inspect, test, or measure material or product being manufactured. 
  • Use PMI Equipment.
  • Produce PMI Reports.
  • Use equipment for verifying Hardness of Product.
  • Final Inspections in Quality Control Area.
  • Production / in-process Inspections.
  • Final Inspections at Shipping Department prior to sending product to the Customers.
  • Dimensional and Visual Analysis.
  • Segregation of Non-Conforming Product.
  • Report problems or concerns to Quality Systems Manager.
  • Compare finished product to Blueprints / Drawings.
  • Recommend adjustments to the assembly or production process.
  • Discuss inspection results with Team Members from other Departments.
  • Report and Review Testing Data.
  • Create C of C’s (Certificate of Conformity) for customers.
  • Create C of O’s (Certificate of Origin) for customers. 
  • Assist Quality Systems Manager with Internal Audits of different Departments.
  • Assist Quality Systems Manager with External Customer / Industry Audits. 
  • Back up for other Positions in Quality Department as needed.
  • SPECIAL PROJECTS OR ASSIGNMENTS AS REQUESTED BY THE QUALITY SYSTEMS MANAGER.
 
Requirements:
 
  • Manufacturing environment experience is required. 
  • Experience with Industry Standards – API 598, API 6D, API Q1, and ASTM’s is a plus.
  • Analytical, logical thought process and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to translate skills and knowledge to others.
  • High School Diploma is required. 
  • 3+ years in Quality Control and/or Assurance position in manufacturing environments is a plus.
  • Valve experience a strong plus, but not required.
  • Ability to work as a team player, internally and with outside customers.
  • Excellent communication skills – e-mails, on the phone, and in person.
  • Must be a self-starter and able to work with limited supervision.
  • Ability to learn and work in the following: EXCEL, WORD, Database System – Quasar X, SMARTSHEET, and other computer-based software / hardware / languages.
