Quality Engineer

TPI Staffing has a new Quality Engineer position available! This is a 6-8 month project in Northwest Houston! This opportunity is paying 80K-90K. The qualified candidates will perform the quality inspection and testing of fabricated skids, products and materials associated with our systems projects. Candidates must have an excellent understanding of industry standards (API, AGA, ASME), welding skid fabrication, inspection and testing processes necessary to support project execution and delivery. The Engineer must be capable of working in teams and independently both in the office and more at vendor locations like machine shops, fabricator, paint shops and outside in the elements.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the engineers and the PM in generating the ITP per the contractual requirements.
  • Perform inspections on skid fabrication and testing in accordance with Inspection and test Plan (ITP) experience of inspection in the following disciplines is essential.
  • Pipe fabrication for Hydrocarbon and Natural gas services; Heavy duty structure fabrication; specialized paint process inspections (internal and external) machined components.
  • Audit materials and fabricated skids / assemblies for conformance to design drawings, specifications and overall aesthetics.
  • Document and manage to completion all non-conformances.
  • Review and align correct welding procedures against job requirements and or Industrial standards.
  • Review all NDT results from welding for accuracy and suitability for service.
  • Gather all documentation for trace ability.
  • Dimensional checks of unfinished and finished parts or assemblies before crating; check crated parts; inspect, assist shipping in the counting of parts in crates.
  • Material receipt inspection, review of mechanical and electrical material test certificates and acceptance in Oracle system.
  • Witness testing on fabricated assemblies such as hydro test.
  • Assist in the separation of scrap, rework, and good materials.
  • Update / document results in project EDMS systems.
  • Directly supervise and manage work assignments.
  • Awareness, Interpretation and Application of Industry Codes.
  • May be responsible to define and safely oversee factory acceptance testing and job site installation and/or commissioning of equipment and systems supplied.
  • Candidates shall have demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize and assign work in a team environment while assigned to multiple projects, have proven ability to work effectively in a team environment, have experience with ISO9001 requirements, be adept in working with a third party contractor, have proven ability to convey a professional image while building and sustaining customer relationships, and must be comfortable in an operating plant or fabrication environment.
  • Posses the ability to negotiate staircases, ladders, scaffolding and catwalks.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor s degree in Engineering from an accredited university and we need copy of degree to verify it.
  • Knowledge of ASME and AWS D1.1 Standards to perform field inspections of fabricated items.
  • Familiar with hydro test equipment, calibration certifications and testing procedures.
  • Ability to verify spool and structural dimensions using Engineering detail drawings.
  • Ability to read P&ID s
  • Experience using measurement tools such as tape measure, dial calipers and micrometers.
  • Ability to work outside in ambient conditions.
  • 5 to 8 years of relevant work experience in the quality field not seeking above 12 years of experience.
  • Coating inspection Experience a plus but not required.
  • Comfortable with local travel.
  • Proficient in the spoken and written English language.
  • Knowledge of Oil and Gas standards like API, AGA, ISO.
  • Proficient with MS Office Tools.
