Pay: up to $45.00 per hour (DOE)
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Accountant to join our finance team and support our growing operations.
Job Summary:
The accountant will be responsible for managing financial transactions, ensuring accurate reporting, and supporting additional financial activities. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, financial regulations, and cost management, particularly in a consulting environment with project-based accounting.
Key Responsibilities:
- General Accounting & Financial Reporting:
- Maintain accurate financial records and assist with the preparation of financial statements
- Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and company policies
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
Accounts Payable & Receivable:
- Process invoices, payments, and expense reports
- Monitor accounts receivable, follow up on outstanding invoices, and ensure timely collections
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies
- Collaborate with project managers to ensure accurate financial reporting
Tax & Compliance:
- Assist with preparing sales tax, payroll tax, and other regulatory filings as required
- Assist with tax documentation and audits
Payroll & Employee Expenses:
- Process payroll and ensure compliance with labor laws
- Reconcile payroll accounts and manage employee reimbursements
Banking & Reconciliations:
- Perform bank and credit card reconciliations
Qualifications & Skills/Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, preferred
5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in an engineering or professional services firm
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Deltek, Ajera, or similar ERP systems)
Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, financial modeling)
Familiarity with project-based accounting principles, preferred
Soft Skills:
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
Effective communication and collaboration skills
Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
